TEA & CAKE: Bath

No no, before you panic, don't worry, I'm not blogging from the bath! This is way better! I took an exciting little day trip to the city of Bath with some friends this weekend! And yes, I can confirm it is one of the most beautiful cities I have seen in the UK. It's officially my new favourite getaway spot. Just a 2hr 30min drive from London, it's the perfect place to escape the busy and hectic city, and it's filled to the brim with cute little bakeries, restaurants and quaint shops. It's seriously my kind of place.

It's made me decide that I want to take this blog in a new kind of direction. Rather than just blogging about my own baking adventures, I want to document all of the amazing bakeries and tea shops I find in London and on my travels around the UK and abroad. A kind of cake guide to the world! Taking each city bakery by bakery! Ooh that could be my motto. So from now on keep an eye out for my 'Tea & Cake' posts.

Now, Bath had bakeries and ice cream parlours on every street corner, but there was one that caught my eye in particular. The Bertinet Bakery seemed like the perfect place to stop for some tea & cake in the late afternoon, just after our visit to the Roman Baths. You can either take your cakes and pastries away, or eat upstairs in the cute pastel coloured cafe. Their 'Lovely' sparkling Elderflower pressé was my drink of choice, and possibly one of the nicest I've had!

So if you're visiting Bath, pop into the bakery and tell me what you think. There are loads of others to choose from, and endless fudge shops too. They make the fudge right then and there in front of you, it's brill. I cannot wait to go back!

Enjoy the photos - I've snuck a few others of the trip in there too :)

Oh I can't wait to read about all the bakeries that you will be reviewing. I think it's a great idea to add this element to your blog. Although I lived in London for many years, I have never been to Bath... regrets...

So jealous! Looks fun and delicious. I have to say, though, the idea of drinking tea and eating cake while taking a relaxing bath sounds pretty good. =)

What a beautiful blog! Naturally I am also a fan of tea and cake hence I'm reading this! But yes Bath is beautiful - steeped in history and charming to all who visit :)
